A homeowner was transported to the hospital for treatment after a fire that damaged a two-car garage and a motorcycle in Lake in the Hills Sunday afternoon.
The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District and Lake in the Hills Police Department responded around 2 p.m. Sunday to the 500 block of Mohican Trail in Lake in the Hills for a report of a structure fire.
Fire officials said firefighters arrived on the scene in three minutes to find heavy smoke showing from a two-car garage.
The garage was detached from the house and the fire did not spread to the home.
Firefighters deployed hose lines and initiated an “aggressive interior fire attack,” fire officials said.
The fire was declared under control around 2:27 p.m., just under 25 minutes after the fire department arrived.
The homeowner was injured and treated at the scene by paramedics, according to fire department radio traffic.
They were transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation, fire officials said.
No firefighter injuries were reported. A damage estimate was not immediately available.
Investigators are conducting interviews with the occupants to determine the cause of the fire, Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District Chief John Knebl said.
Knebl said a motorcycle was inside the garage and was also damaged.
The Huntley Fire Protection District, Carpentersville Fire Department and Lake in the Hills Building Department also responded to the scene.
The cause of the fire remains undetermined and under investigation by the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District.
