A 34-year-old man died after he was found stabbed in North Chicago and rushed to the hospital by paramedics just after midnight on Sunday, authorities said.
The North Chicago Police Department and North Chicago Fire Department responded around 12:20 a.m. Sunday to 10th Street just east of Adams Street on the border of North Chicago and Waukegan for a report of a person who was stabbed.
Firefighter/medics staged in the area until the scene could be deemed safe by police.
The victim was a 34-year-old man from North Chicago, Lake County Chief Deputy Coroner Steve Newton said.
He was transported by ambulance to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he was later pronounced dead, Newton said.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday. The victim’s identity has not been released yet.
Crime scene tape surrounded a Jeep Liberty SUV, which was parked in the eastbound lanes of 10th Street facing westbound.
Police officers and detectives were seen searching for evidence along 10th Street and interviewing several people.
The crime scene tape was taken down at around 1:40 a.m.
It is unclear if anyone is in custody or actively being sought by police.
North Chicago Police Chief Lazaro Perez said the investigation is ongoing and no further details were available for release.
