A man was found dead after being shot during a disturbance in Ingleside Friday morning and sheriff’s deputies have arrested the suspected gunman, officials said.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded around 3:10 a.m. Friday to the 25900 block of West Laneville Drive in Ingleside for a report of a disturbance in progress.

Sheriff’s 911 telecommunicators learned someone inside the home was shot, according to Lake County Sheriff’s Office Chief Christopher Covelli.

Covelli said dispatchers also learned that the person believed to have fired the weapon was still armed.

Sheriff’s deputies quickly arrived and located a subject matching the description outside the residence.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident and deputies recovered a firearm from his person, Covelli said.

Sheriff’s deputies also safely evacuated numerous other individuals who were inside the home, including children.

Covelli said they also found an adult male with apparent gunshot wounds deceased inside the home.

The Fox Lake Fire Protection District responded to the scene and confirmed the victim was deceased.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and an autopsy is being scheduled. The victim’s identity has not been released.

The person of interest remains in custody while Lake County sheriff’s detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the disturbance and subsequent shooting.

Detectives remained at the scene into late Friday morning as they continued the investigation. Crime scene tape was set up around the house and the street was shut down.

No charges have been filed at this time, Covelli said.
