No one was hurt but four residents were left homeless after a fire left their home uninhabitable and sent flames shooting out the windows in Beach Park Tuesday evening.
The Beach Park Fire Department, Lake County Sheriff’s Office and numerous automatic aid fire departments responded around 8:08 p.m. Tuesday to the 38600 block of North Linden Avenue in Beach Park for a report of a structure fire.
Firefighters received a report of black smoke coming from a home and that a person ran back inside the house.
A fire engine crew with the Beach Park Fire Department arrived at 8:10 p.m. and found fire coming out of two windows of the two-story home, Beach Park Fire Chief Tom Stahl said.
Firefighters confirmed everyone was out of the house and deployed hose lines.
The fire was brought under control within around 10 minutes, Stahl said.
A box alarm through the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System was requested for additional resources, but that was later cancelled at around 8:35 p.m.
No injuries were reported.
The house is uninhabitable and four residents have been displaced, Stahl said.
The Beach Park Fire Department was assisted by the Zion, Pleasant Prairie, Newport Township and Winthrop Harbor fire departments.
The fire remains under investigation, and a damage estimate was not immediately available.
