A 22-year-old man is in custody after police say he stalked unsuspecting women to their homes and employment in McHenry and was also caught video recording a woman’s intimate area in a grocery store.
The McHenry Police Department responded on July 9 to Meijer, 2253 North Richmond Road in McHenry, for a suspicious incident.
The victim, a 31-year-old woman, reported a male subject crouched down beside her with his cell phone placed near her buttocks, police officials said.
The suspect exited the store after being confronted. The woman was alarmed and disturbed and notified the police.
A preliminary investigation developed Kishaun C. Davis, 22, of McHenry, as the suspect, police officials said.
A further investigation developed probable cause to show that Davis recorded the victim’s intimate parts by placing his phone near her loose-fitting clothing.
Investigators conducted a forensic analysis of Davis’s cell phone, which showed he was connected to several other reported crimes in and around McHenry, police said.
Police officials said Davis had followed unsuspecting women to their residences and places of employment from March to July.
Davis also caused significant damage to vehicles belonging to some of the unsuspecting women, the police department added.
Officers took Davis into custody near his residence in the 2900 block of Northside Drive in McHenry on Thursday.
Davis was charged with three counts of stalking, two counts of unauthorized video recording and six counts of criminal damage to property.
He was transported to the McHenry County Jail and is likely to appear in Initial Appearance Court on Friday afternoon.
The McHenry Police Department and McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office are continuing the investigation into Davis as he is suspected of being involved in additional crimes.
Police say they are not releasing further information as the investigation is ongoing.
