The coroner has released the identity of a 34-year-old man who died after he crashed his motorcycle into a building and was ejected in downtown Fox Lake early Sunday morning.
The Fox Lake Police Department and Fox Lake Fire Protection District responded around 2:55 a.m. Sunday to East Grand Avenue and Keystone Avenue in downtown Fox Lake for a report of a single-vehicle motorcycle crash.

Police officers and firefighter/medics arrived to find a man who was unconscious on the ground but breathing after crashing his 2013 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, Fox Lake Police Sergeant Rick Howell said.
Lake County Coroner Jennifer Banek identified the victim on Wednesday as Kyle Varno, 34, of Union Grove, Wisconsin.
Firefighter/medics immediately began providing medical treatment to Varno.

He was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with serious and life-threatening injuries.

Lake County Chief Deputy Coroner Steve Newton said Varno was the sole occupant of the motorcycle.
He later died Sunday evening at Advocate Condell Medical Center in the intensive care unit, Banek said.
A preliminary coroner’s investigation indicated Varno died as a result of blunt force injuries to the head from the vehicle crash.

A preliminary crash investigation shows Varno was driving his Harley-Davidson eastbound on Grand Avenue approaching Keystone Avenue.
The motorcycle then left the roadway, slid onto its side and struck the brick building at 62 East Grand Avenue, Howell said.

Due to the severity of the crash, the Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) of Lake County was requested to assist the Fox Lake Police Department with an investigation.
Grand Avenue between Rollins Road and Towne Centre Lane was shut down for several hours as investigators worked the scene.

The roadway was reopened later Sunday morning.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Fox Lake Police Department and MCAT.
