A Woodstock man is being held on a $650,000 bond in connection with the death of a Wonder Lake man, who overdosed on fentanyl-laced heroin.
Vincent G. Romano, 32, of the 14700 block of Emery Lane in Woodstock, was charged with three counts of drug-induced homicide, a Class X felony.
Court documents show that the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office began investigating the death of Daniel S. Williams, 42, of Wonder Lake.
Williams died on May 26 after ingesting a combination of heroin and fentanyl, a criminal complaint said.
The complaint said that Romano sold the drugs to Williams on or about May 23.
Williams was a “loving father, respected softball coach, loved racing and loved by many,” according to his obituary.
Williams leaves behind his former wife and their three children, his obituary said.
Romano was charged on Tuesday, but he was already being held in the McHenry County Jail on other drug charges.
In June, Romano was arrested after McHenry County sheriff’s deputies found him in possession of seven bags of heroin while standing outside of an occupied car, court documents said.
Romano was charged with unlawful delivery of heroin, unlawful delivery of fentanyl, unlawful possession of heroin and unlawful possession of fentanyl.
He remains held in the McHenry County Jail on a $650,000 bond, meaning he would need to post $65,000 cash in order to be released.
Romano is scheduled to appear in court again on October 22 for a trial date status hearing.
