A suspect was taken into custody after police say he stabbed a 57-year-old man multiple times, leaving him hospitalized, during an argument at a home in Algonquin Sunday evening.
The Algonquin Police Department and Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District responded around 6:17 p.m. Sunday to the 2600 block of Christie Drive in Algonquin for a report of a stabbing.

Fire department radio traffic indicated one person was stabbed and the offender was still at the scene.
Paramedics staged nearby as police secured the scene and took the offender into custody.

Algonquin Deputy Police Chief Ryan Markham said officers arrived and found a 57-year-old male victim outside the residence.
He was suffering from multiple lacerations, including to his chest and face.

The victim was conscious and alert and was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment with non-life-threatening injuries, Markham said.
Officers later took Richard M. Dobson, 61, who lives at the home, into custody.

Markham said the victim and Dobson got into a verbal argument that escalated into the stabbing.
“The investigation concluded that this was an isolated incident and members of the general public were not in danger,” Markham said.

Dobson was charged with aggravated battery with the use of a deadly weapon, a Class 3 felony, and two counts of domestic Battery, a Class A misdemeanor.
A second ambulance was dispatched to the scene for Dobson for a medical issue unrelated to the incident, Markham said.

He was transported to a local hospital in police custody and then later released.
Dobson has since been transported to the Kane County Jail to await an initial appearance court hearing.
