No one was injured and a suspect is in police custody after a home was shot up in Beach Park Thursday morning.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded at 10:35 a.m. Thursday to the 12900 block of West Wakefield Drive in Beach Park for a report of a shooting.

Lake County Sheriff Spokesman Sgt. Christopher Covelli said that someone had fired shots at the home and the suspect fled in a vehicle before police arrived.

No one was struck by the gunfire. Area schools in Beach Park went on a soft lockdown “out of an abundance of caution,” Covelli said.

Covelli said at 1:45 p.m. that a suspect had been located and taken into police custody by deputies. More information is expected to be released soon.

Evidence technicians processed the scene and the shooting remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
