Two men were charged after they allegedly tried burglarizing a home in Lakewood and burglarizing vehicles in Crystal Lake Friday, court records show.

Victor A. Diaz, 21, of Crystal Lake, was charged with attempted residential burglary, criminal trespass to land, burglary, theft, two counts of possession of burglary tools and attempted burglary.

Lucazie S. Sacco, 18, of Algonquin, was charged with attempted residential burglary, attempted burglary, burglary, theft, criminal trespass to land and two counts of possession of burglary tools.

A criminal complaint filed in McHenry County Circuit Court alleges Diaz and Sacco committed attempted burglary on Friday in the 7000 block of Longmoor Drive in Lakewood.

The two took a “substantial step” toward committing burglary by attempting to gain entry to a residence, the complaint said.

Diaz and Socco remained on the property without permission from the owner, the complaint said.

Diaz and Socco were found in possession of a screwdriver, suitable for breaking into a building, the complaint added.

A separate criminal complaint said Diaz burglarized a 1991 Pontiac Hatchback around 1:37 a.m. Friday in Crystal Lake and committed theft of the vehicle, which is worth over $10,000.

The Pontiac had its vehicle ignition “manipulated” by the screwdriver, the complaint said.

A separate complaint said Diaz committed attempted burglary by entering a 2004 Dodge Caravan in the 0-100 block of Pauline Avenue in unincorporated Crystal Lake around 5:36 a.m. Friday.

Diaz and Sacco were both arrested by police and transported to the McHenry County Jail Friday morning.

Diaz was ordered held on a $70,000 bond and Sacco was ordered held on a $65,000 bond.

Sacco has since been released after posting 10% of his bond. Diaz remains held in the jail.
