The damage was isolated to the garage but it is unknown whether the home remains habitable or if utilities were disconnected temporarily.

The McHenry County Building Department and a restoration company were requested to the scene, Tamason said.

The vehicle was removed from the residence by a tow company in coordination with the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department, McHenry County Building Department and the restoration company.

The restoration company stabilized, shored and secured the damaged garage, Tamason said.

Firefighters cleared the scene and turned the residence back over to the homeowner.

The car appeared to have been turning left onto Melrose Lane from Lake Avenue when it failed to make the sharp turn and drove across the lawn into the home.

The cause of the crash is being investigated by the Lakewood Police Department.
