Eric Pinkerton, 17, of Crystal Lake.

A Crystal Lake teen who went missing on Monday has been located safely in Kane County on Thursday, the sheriff’s office said.

Eric Pinkerton, 17, of Crystal Lake, reportedly left his home Monday night, according to his mother.

“He climbed out his window Monday night and told friends that he’s skateboarding back to Texas. No one has seen or heard from him since 6 am on Tuesday. It’s been over 30 hours. His phone seems to be dead,” Jennifer Pinkerton said.

A friend told Eric’s family that the teen was heading south on Route 31 early Tuesday morning. His mother said they had searched all around the area without finding him.

An alert was sent out to area police departments in the state. Social media posts regarding Eric’s disappearance garnered over 15,000 shares in one day.
