A third round of “No Kings” protests is set to be held on Saturday across Lake and McHenry counties, as well as the United States, with organizers expecting the biggest turnout yet.
Indivisible NE Lake County said thousands of Lake County residents are expected to gather in Gurnee from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Hunt Club Road and Grand Avenue as they join millions of people in “No Kings” 3 protests across the country.
“Last year over 11,000 Lake County residents came together for No Kings 1 and 2 to say America doesn’t belong to strongmen, greedy billionaires, or those who rule through fear — it belongs to us,” Sherri Farris of Highland Park said.
“Families across Lake County can’t afford healthcare, food, and housing, but Trump is spending billions to send violent ICE agents into our communities. And now Trump is adding billions more to our national debt with his unauthorized war in Iran that has already taken the lives of US servicemembers and at least 1,000 Iranian civilians,” Farris said.
Indivisible, a progressive movement organization with chapters across the United States, is the lead organizer of No Kings.
The anti-Trump “No Kings” protests drew tens of thousands of people in Lake and McHenry counties when they were held in October. The first “No Kings” protest was held in June.
The organization said they expect millions of attendees across the country to attend the third round of No Kings protests scheduled for Saturday. The October events saw over seven million people, they said.
No Kings organizers say a core principle behind their events is a commitment to non-violent action.
“We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events,” the event organizers say.
In the Chicago area, dozens of protests are set, with three in McHenry County and three in Lake County.
In addition to the Gurnee event, No Kings rallies are set to be held in Wauconda, Highland Park, Buffalo Grove and Barrington.
The Wauconda protest is set to be held from 1-3 p.m. at Route 176 and Main Street, the Barrington event is set for 10-11 a.m. at the Barrington Metra station, the Buffalo Grove event is set for 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at McHenry Road and Lake Cook Road and the Highland Park protest is set for 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Highland Park City Hall.
Three rallies are set to be held in McHenry County in McHenry, Crystal Lake and Algonquin.
Indivisible McHenry County said they are hosting the McHenry rally at Route 31 and McCullom Lake Road from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
Sue Rose of Indivisible McHenry County said 5,000 people attended both of the previous protests in McHenry and she is hoping this one will be even bigger.
The Algonquin protest is set for 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the Fox River bridge at Algonquin Road and Harrison Street, while the Crystal Lake event is set to be held from 12-1:30 p.m. at 5380 Northwest Highway.
“What began in 2025 as a single day of defiance has become a sustained national resistance to tyranny, spreading from small towns to city centers and across every community determined to defend democracy. Our peaceful movement is bigger than ever,” the event organizers said.
“When our families are under attack and costs are pushing people to the brink, silence is not an option. We will defend ourselves and our communities against this administration’s unjust and cruel acts of violence,” they said.
