A man was flown to the hospital with potentially serious injuries after fire officials say he fell from his bicycle outside of a manufacturing plant in Cary.

The Cary Fire Protection District responded around 5:54 p.m. Friday to the 100 block of Detroit Street in Cary for a report of a fall victim.

Cary Fire Protection District Public Information Officer Alex Vucha said an adult male had fallen from a bicycle and lost consciousness.

The accident happened in the area of Swiss Automation, 185 Detroit Street.

Paramedics determined the victim had suffered a potentially serious head injury, Vucha said.

The type of injury prompted the request for a medical helicopter to respond.

A LifeNet medical helicopter responded to the helipad at Mercyhealth Hospital and Physician Clinic in Crystal Lake.

The ambulance transported the victim to the helipad and he was transferred to the flight crew.
