A 30-year-old woman from Huntley died and two others were injured after the woman ran a stop sign and caused a three-vehicle crash involving a house in Grundy County Wednesday morning.
The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Mazon, Coal City, Braceville and Verona-Kinsman fire departments, responded around 8:55 a.m. Wednesday to the area of West Gardner Road and South Johnny Run Road in unincorporated Kinsman for a vehicle crash with injuries.
Deputies arrived and found a three-vehicle crash.
A preliminary investigation showed a blue 2017 Honda Civic, driven by Rosemary Bolding, 30, of Huntley, was traveling northbound on Johnny Run Road.
The Honda failed to stop at the posted stop sign before entering the intersection at Gardner Road, according to the sheriff’s office.
The Honda was struck by a white 2024 Mercedes GLE, driven by a 60-year-old Seneca woman.
The sheriff’s office said the Mercedes had been traveling eastbound on Gardner Road and it came to rest in the ditch at the northeast corner of the intersection.
The occupants of the Mercedes, which had a 64-year-old Seneca male in the passenger seat, had exited the vehicle and suffered minor injuries.
The Honda continued from the intersection and came to rest approximately 500 feet away after striking the southeast corner of a residence in the 6900 block of West Gardner Road.
The Honda then struck the rear of an unoccupied vehicle parked in the driveway, the sheriff’s office said.
Bolding was located inside the vehicle and suffered significant injuries.
She was pronounced dead at the scene by Grundy County Coroner John Callahan.
Sheriff’s officials said the resident of the Gardner Road residence was home at the time of the crash but was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation by the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office Reconstruction Unit and the Grundy County Coroner’s Office.
