The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office says its officers will be featured in the new season of “Jail,” a reality television series that will provide viewers with an inside look at the county jail in Woodstock.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday that it was selected to participate in season seven of “Jail” and that crews filmed at the McHenry County Jail in Woodstock.
Segments featuring the sheriff’s office are included in four episodes of the new season.
“This was an opportunity to give viewers a look inside the jail and at the work our corrections staff does every day,” McHenry County Sheriff Robb Tadelman said.
“I’m proud of the professionalism and dedication they bring to a job that most people never see,” Tadelman said.
“Keep an eye out for the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office throughout the season,” the agency said.
Season seven begins streaming Thursday on free, ad-supported channels on Roku, Prime Video, Sony PlayStation and Vizio.
“Jail” follows people after their arrest as they are brought into booking and held in custody until they go to court, are released or are transferred to another facility.
John Langley and his son Morgan Langley created the series through their company, Langley Productions, which also produces “Cops.”
The show first aired in 2007 on MyNetworkTV and was later revived by Spike, which launched “Jail: Las Vegas” in 2015 with a focus on the Clark County Detention Center.
A 2016 season titled “Jail: Big Texas” moved the cameras to jails in Texas and the show’s last new episodes aired in 2017.
The booking of O.J. Simpson into the Clark County Detention Center was featured in a 2008 episode.
Season seven brings the first new episodes of “Jail” since 2017 and picks up where the series left off by following new arrivals through booking, according to Langley Productions.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is one of nine agencies featured in the new season, along with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, the Calcasieu Parish and Caddo Parish sheriff’s offices in Louisiana, the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office in South Carolina, the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office in Missouri and the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.
The premiere episode, titled “Every Which Way But Loose,” features a DUI suspect fighting with deputies in booking, a woman on a tirade after being arrested on a parade day and a repeat offender addicted to heroin who lands back in jail hours after being released, the production company said.
Langley Productions said 11 episodes will air following the premiere and another nine original episodes are planned for 2027.
Other filming locations for the new season include Chattanooga, Tennessee; Shreveport, Louisiana; and Hillsboro, Oregon.
